I'm a american (sorry) and i was wondering how hard is it to fly over-sea and study martial arts in japan?

Laurel said...

Not hard at all! If you have the money available, you can study martial arts full-time. If you don't, you can find a job and study martial arts in your time off. There is lots of information available on the internet. If you are interested in Ki Aikido, visit the Tohei Gakuin homepage here: http://www.ki-society.com/english/renew/gakuin/info.html

Hi Laurel

I'm living in Wakayama and currently studying at an Aikikai Dojo.

Do you know any Ki Aikido dojo in the area?

Noel

Noel,
I could not find any ki aikido dojo in Wakayama, but I have forwarded your inquiry to Ki Society HQ to make sure.
If you get to Osaka sometimes, you can take seminars at the Kansai HQ there.

Hi Laurel,

I'd like to find a dojo close to Omiya, Saitama-Ken. I've found a couple in Tokyo but was wondering if there was anything closer to home. I ave Sundays free.

Thanks for any help,

Etienne.

Please see the entry for Saitama-ken. Koshino-sensei has classes on Sunday night at Minami Koshigaya and Sunday morning at Tsuruse.

hey,

I am in Tokyo, now. I want to learn martial arts intensivly for a month. Where can I BEGIN THIS?

Please email me

What a great idea to spend a month in Japan doing something like this! However, the Ki Society does not have any such short-term program. You could attend classes at a regular dojo, but you would only have practice about two hours a day for up to three or four days a week, not all day every day. If you decide to do this, I can help you find a dojo.

Otherwise, if you do not have a preference for aikido style, you can try contacting Aikikai or Yoshinkan headquarters and ask if they have a program like this. You can find their home pages on the internet.

Good luck!

Hiya Laurel,

I was wandering, im a student at the moment. I and 2 friends of my train ki-aikido here in the Netherlands for 1 or 2 evenings a week.
We would really love to go to Japan to train more there for perhaps half a year or more. Are there options to do this, and where do i look to find this? Tx for reading

Please take a look at the entry "Coming to Japan to practice aikido". If you are going to Tohei Gakuin, I think they can help get you a cultural study visa, but if you are coming to study at a local dojo in Tokyo you'll need to figure out how to get a visa that will let you stay for 6 months or more.
Let me know if I can give you any more information, and I hope I see you here in Japan soon!

The Ki Aikido Institute is the only one I know about. Click the link for Ki Aikido Institute (Tohei Gakuin) under Dojo Information.
